Phoenix and Phoenix in Light

Phoenix- This piece is special and broke my heart to do... equally, it was an incredible honor to be presented with the request for this piece. Ive been given permission by Dave and his wife to share their background and their story with this piece. Dave and his wife found out that their baby girl did not make it through his wife’s pregnancy. Shortly after they found out, Dave contacted me and requested me to do a piece as an En Memorandum of their child and all of the hope they had placed in her birth. I started the piece a couple of days prior to her scheduled induction. She was born under an induced still birth at 24 weeks (6 months and two weeks) on March 25th at 3:30 am. Dave sent me a photo that tore my heart out... I meticulously took the photo and carefully and lovingly filled out little Phoenix’s facial features for them. She prepares to rise in this piece in the protective arms of the Valkyrie for her journey home to start again...
